| RavenNuke™v2.20.01 CMS Released
|
 |
When RavenNuke™ v2.20.00 was released, we announced that a maintenance release would follow within 2-3 weeks. Not all the documentation was up to date and we knew there would be some minor issues found by our faithful users. There are no major changes to code nor any database schema changes so the upgrade really should be pretty painless assuming you are using v2.20.00. Otherwise you will need to follow the documented upgrade instructions for your version.
Note: As of 2008-03-03 10:40:35 the download links are now working - sorry about the finger fumbling!

| Techie: RavenNuke™ v2.20.00 CMS Released
|
 | After 9 long months of updates, upgrades, fixes, enhancements, sickness, vacations, and more fun than one could possibly ask for or imagine  - the best and most secure CMS (in or opinion) has been made even better and more secure! The RavenNuke(tm) Team is proud (and relieved) to announce the public release of RavenNuke(tm) v2.20.00.
In order to meet the time line that has passed at least twice :), we have released this with the following caveat. The documentation is about 98.6725401% complete. The remaining 1.3274599% will be released in the next couple of weeks or sooner. There is nothing that has been withheld that should affect the installation process. The omissions are mostly due to changes in screen prints, images, etc. Nothing too meaty.

| Techie: Report: Yahoo to reject Microsoft bid
|
 |
Yahoo's board has decided Microsoft's $31-per-share offer "massively undervalues" the company, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Yahoo is expected to formally reject Microsoft's offer, the Journal reported.
In the report, it appears Yahoo is floating the idea that it might consider an offer of at least $40 a share. I'm not in the boardroom, but all of this--the leak, the wording--sounds like more of a negotiating tactic than a final rejection.

A massive malware attack spread throughout the world Thursday and Friday by teasing e-mail recipients to open infected messages supposedly about European wind storms. The attackers use of the subject line "230 dead as storm batters Europe" was an effective way to lure careless computer users into opening mail infected with the "Storm Worm" virus.

| Techie: 5 Helpful Windows Vista Tips
|
 | Windows Vista partitions?
So I dabbled in dual booting Linux and Vista recently. I couldn't get Linux to boot, so I went into the administrative tools on vista and made the Ubuntu partition "active." But I need Vista; Ubuntu was just fun to mess around in. So I put in the Vista Repair CD and it couldn't find my vista installation.
I can still open command prompt on the disc though, and see all of my files. I need to either make my vista partition bootable again, or reformat my Ubuntu partition so it defaults back to the vista, only using command prompt. Oh, and command prompt can't find my Ubuntu partition to begin with.....help!!

| Techie: Microsoft is Stupid, Apple is Not
|
 | by Jim Lynch
My boss Lance recently wrote a column about how Macs need security software too. In his column he pointed out that Mac users are no smarter than Windows users. I respect where Lance is coming from, we're all human and quite capable of making mistakes. However, I think he got it wrong. It's not necessarily just about the users, it's also about the companies and people who create the operating systems that we use each day.
Frankly, there's no other way to say this: Microsoft is stupid and Apple is not.

| Techie: Keep Windows XP until 2009, analysts tell Microsoft
|
 | Chances are good that Microsoft will respond if customers keep pushing
Microsoft should keep Windows XP available until at least 2009, not end the majority of sales on June 30 as currently planned, said analysts at Gartner and The Burton Group. “A good rule of thumb in any OS transition is that you have to have the original and new products available for at least two years to handle customer [migration] needs,” said Richard Jones, a Burton Group vice president and service director. But Microsoft gave customers just 11 months in its original plan, in which new XP licenses would have ended on Dec. 31, and even the additional six months that Microsoft granted when it changed the date to June 30 is not enough, he said.
